Attendance is limited to 36 attendees. Each course is generally filled to capacity within six weeks of the starting date. Therefore, if you plan to attend, we encourage you to register early to secure the dates of your choice.
A room block has been arranged at the Marriott Hotel in Columbia. A special rate is offered to registered attendees, for single or double occupancy. The Marriott Hotel will provide airport transportation and daily transportation to and from the hospital for the days of the training course at no additional cost. Breakfast at the Center City Grill is complimentary each morning, wireless internet and self-parking is also provided at no charge. It is your responsibility to make hotel reservations directly by contacting our Marriott Group Coordinator, Chris Johnson, at (803) 744-6906 or via e-mail address at cjohnson@pyramidhotels.com from 8:00AM - 5:00PM EST Monday through Friday. If you wish to make a reservation outside of normal business hours, please leave a voicemail and Mr. Johnson will return the call with your confirmation number the next business morning. Be sure to identify yourself as being with the Hyperbaric Medicine Group. Please make your reservation as soon as possible and no later than 21 days prior to course date to receive the reduced rate.
Telephone requests will not hold your training course reservation. Online registration including advance payment is required to secure your reservation. Once registration is complete you will receive an email confirmation.
A Primary Training in Hyperbaric Medicine course certificate is provided only at the completion of the entire 40 hours of training. Participants MUST be in attendance the entire week. Please arrange departure flights no earlier than 5:30 PM EST on the last day of the course. Attendees who leave prior to the completion of the course are not eligible to receive a course completion certificate.
The UHMS designates this educational activity for a maximum of 40 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) and Palmetto Health Richland. The UHMS is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians and takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of the CME activity.
General Training Objectives
- Introduce emerging basic science initiatives that support the mediumistic basis of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
- Provide an overview of the recent scientific literature that is likely to consolidate and otherwise influence hyperbaric practice patterns.
- Describe the clinical evidence that characterizes the currently approved indications for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Continuing Education Units:
Physicians:
- 40 Category 1 CME credit hours — Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians
Nurses:
- 40.8 Contact Hours — South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. The ANCC neither endorses nor approves any products that may be associated with this continuing education activity.
Hyperbaric Technologists:
- 40 Category A hours — National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology
Respiratory Therapists:
- 40 Continuing Respiratory Care Education Credits — American Association for Respiratory Care
Locations and Dates
The course is taught on the campus of Palmetto Health Richland, the teaching institution for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and Level 1 Trauma Center, in Columbia, South Carolina. Here are the scheduled dates:

- May 10-14
- June 21 - 25
- August 9 - 13
- September 27 - October 1
- November 15 - 19
Registration Fee:
$850.00 registration fee for all attendees
The full fee is payable in advance and includes all course materials. Early registration
is advised because of limited enrollment for each course.
Cancellation Policy
A request must be submitted in writing and faxed to 803-434-4354. Please include the name of the registrant, your contact information, dates of the training course and the method of payment used. Refunds will be issued as follows:
